The Funeral of "Titanic" Thompson
Published in Paperback by Saint Barthelemey Press Ltd. (15 June, 2002)
Author: Lowell Douglas
Average review score:

A Very Funny Book
I hope my funeral turns out to be this much fun. Old friends come together at the funeral of Titanic Thompson and start telling stories. Titanic's life gives them plenty to laugh about as each story tops the one before it. If Thompson were a fictional character, the stories would be amusing. But the fact that he was a real person and the stories are real (though undoubtedly exaggerated as they have passed through the years) makes them hilarious. If Titanic were alive today, he would have a seven figure shoe contract with Nike. But in his day, he had to find creative ways to use his incredible athletic talents and intelligence to separate people from their money. This is a fun and quick read that will have you repeating the stories to your friends.

The Gardens of William Morris
Published in Hardcover by Stewart, Tabori & Chang (April, 1999)
Authors: Penny Hart, John Simmons, Duchess of Hamilton Jill, and Jill Douglas-Hamil Hamilton And Brandon
Average review score:

The Gardens of William Morris
I loved this book. It demonstrated for me the real "art" of gardening. William Morris was a clever and far sighted man who advocated staying within the parameters of nature and natural beauty when making gardens. He also perpetuated the "garden room" theme which has been enormously popular since the eighteeth century. I refer to this book continuously and strive to design and construct garden rooms in my own garden which are as beautiful.

Gauguin (Artists in Focus)
Published in Hardcover by Harry N Abrams (September, 2001)
Authors: Britt Salvesen, Douglas W. Druick, Peter Kort Zegers, Paul Gauguin, Art Institute of Chicago, and James N. Wood
Average review score:

Lush, colorful artworks revolutionizing modern painting
Paul Gauguin was at the heart of the Post-Impressionist movement with his lush, colorful artworks revolutionizing modern painting a the turn of the 19th Century. Largely self-taught in a diversity of media including oil painting, printmaking, and ceramics, Gauguin came to his career as a Parisian artist relatively late in life, and went on to paint subjects drawn from where he would live ranging from Brittany and Martinique, to Tahiti, and the Marquesas islands. In Gauguin, art expert Britt Salvesen drew from research developed by Douglas W. Druick and Peter Kort Zegers, enhanced with 79 superbly presented illustrations of which 52 are in color and 27 are duotone. Gauguin is a very highly recommended addition to personal, academic, and community library art history reading lists and reference collections in general, as well as being strongly commended to students of the life and work of Paul Gauguin in particular.

General Macarthur and President Truman: The Struggle for Control of American Foreign Policy
Published in Paperback by Transaction Pub (June, 1992)
Authors: Richard H. Rovere and Arthur Schlesinger
Average review score:

Short but informative
This book is concise, yet extremely informative. Richard H. Rovere and Arthur Schlesinger Jr. prove to be a great match in writing the "General and the President." The book opens on a brief note on General Douglas Macarthur's early military history, followed by the outbreak of the Korean war, and the origins and climax of the feud between General Macarthur and President Harry Truman. It comes complete with maps of Korea, political cartoons from the era, and a well documented appendix consisting of speeches, conversations, and testimonies from key government officials of the time. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the Korean War and the famous feud.

Genetics for Fish Hatchery Managers
Published in Hardcover by Chapman & Hall (January, 1993)
Author: Douglas Tave

Getting Unscrewed and Staying That Way: The Sourcebook of Consumer Protection
Published in Hardcover by Henry Holt & Company, Inc. (July, 1993)
Authors: David Klein, Marymae E. Klein, and Douglas D. Walsh
Average review score:

An excellent catalog of consumer protection
The authors write that "many consumers who are ultracautious about their buying habits seem to be rather casual about their saving and borrowing practices. This carelessness can, of course, cost them far more in the long run than an occasional bad buy." This book covers all consumer issues, including money matters of borrowing and credit, describing all the protections afforded to consumers.
